Callaway Pictures

For those with an interest I have posted some pics of the various components of the Callaway turbo kit on my web site. You can see it at
http://members.rennlist.com/tholyoak

Scroll down and click on the Callaway link

I also posted some scans of the original Callaway litterature, they are quite high resolution so unless you have a high speed connection or a lot of time on your hands you may want to avoid those.

Looks like the best info I have was that 39 cars were done between '83 and '85. Be nice to know how many are left.

Here is a teaser

Todd

The oil pan is only modified by a bung for the braided line for the oil return to the pan from the turbo. I'll post a pic of it.

Sorry I had to promise the PO once I get the car back together that he gets the first drive. So it doesn't look like I'll be able to sell you the turbo setup, even though I would love to sell it to a fellow Canadian

Crank just came back from the machinist yesterday all polished and ready to go!

Thanks for the compliments on the 911, I did just sell the turbo twist wheels though. They looked really nice but were just too heavy. I bought a new set of black centered Fuchs. Although I sent the guy the money last week and have yet to hear on shipping or get him to reply to my emails. Getting a little nervous about this one!

Alex, my wife and I were just up to Ontario in the Turbo over the Easter weekend visiting my mom, and the nice thing about so few Porsche cars in Canada is you get a lot of attention from people interested in the cars. My '84 still lives in Canada in my mom's garage. Hasn't been driven more than 25 miles in the last 3 years.

If I can't sell this damn Honda civic soon I may have to get rid of one of the other cars.

Where are you Canadian guys located? I am in Halifax, NS.

There was a really nice 1978 911 SC for sale here last summer, I don't know if it sold. (Was at a local dealership) It had 78,000 miles. Looked really nice.

There is also a Euro (brought from Germany in the last year) 1986 Carrera coupe for sale, really nice looking Miles are high, but in nice shape. I think the price is $26,000.

I am young (20 years of age) and just go around looking at all the cars. I plan on buying my first Porsche soon, either a 924 turbo or 924 S.

Good to see fellow Canadians around. Although all the Americans are awsome too, if they ever tease you about being Canadian ask them if the numbers '5' and '2' ring a bell.

Porsche enthusiasts are the coolest!

Now the bellows in between #2 amd #3 is odd. Mine has it two, but the brochure does not? Does the head expand so much as it has to have that part? Mine has started cracking so I will either repair it with another bellow if I can find one or just a straight part to replace it. The microfueller controller didn't come with mine, so I ended up using the ERL MF2 additional injector controller. The knock sensor/eliminator the came with it. Carter EKE had no sensors or instructions so I used the J&S Safeguard. The kit does not use a blow-off valve, so consider one. These were taken during the rebuild in spring of '01

Not sure if the bellows is for expansion or not, but Porsche had the same problem with early turbos cracking the manifolds as well. I assume the photo in the advertisement was an early motor and ours are the results of updates along the way. The conversion on my car must have been near the end of the run since it was done in Jan of '85 and I believe the conversions stopped soon after.

According to the PO and reading his notes and correspondence with Callaway it doesn't appear that my car has a knock sensor. I admit I haven't looked too closely yet at the elictical harness etc but if it doesn't it will definately get one.

Could you repost the photos or email them to me at
holyoak@brandeis.edu, they don't show up for me and I would love to see them

Thanks
Todd
