Airbag light

I have an airbag light on in my 944 S2. The PO told me that she had it checked and that it is a seatbelt switch. Does anyone know/where the seatbelt switch is and how to fix it?

Not sure about the switch. Clarksgarage.com has an instructional on how to turn it off.

I believe that the '90 is the first year where you need a Hammer tool to reset the codes. Look in the shop manual on blink codes in order to determine where the fault is.

If that has already been done and it is in the receiver, those are the units bolted onto the seat next to the torque tube tunnel. Even if you fix it, however, the light will not go off until you reset it with the Hammer tool.

Good luck, Keith

from what I know 90 is still the old airbag controller. 91 is the new.

Also should check all of the contacts for airbags and crash sensors. In my car the seatbelt sensors are not connected and airbag system is working although I think they are shorted our because my dash light does not come on for seatbelts.

Really you will need to read the codes to know what the error is exactly and then work from there.

I would not readily accept the PO explanation of why the light is on. If it were a simple fix, then why didn't it get fixed by the PO?

The biggest lie, "It was working when I parked it X years ago."

I guess that I'm just skeptical due to my old age.

+1 properly asses it yourself. There's not since chasing something that may not be the issue.

+1 on the Clarks Garage.

ELECT-12, Air Bag Warning Light Reset

I went to Radio Shack and bought all the stuff they recommended, found my Molex, followed the sequence and bingo....light was off. I was told by PO that I needed a new clock spring in the steering wheel. So also a +1 on assessing yourself.

Hey...anyone want to buy a clock spring for an 89 951. I bought one before I checked out Clarks Garage!

Have Fun.....
