Anyone used this paint kit?

I wouldn't consider this a competitor's site, because Pelican does not sell anything like this, so...

Has anyone used this kit to repaint their wheels?:

http://www.griotsgarage.com/catalog.jsp?&SKU=11570

I have phone dial wheels that desperately need repainting, they stick out like a sore thumb after my new paint job.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Sorry about the double posts!! Accidentally went back to the page where it said "Thanks for posting" and then it reposted!

Nothing wrong with the kit as long as your don't mind being raped on the price. All you really need is some Wurth silver wheel paint and some clear paint. I think Pelican sells the Wurth silver and you can get the clear at any auto parts store. Total cost would be less than $20. Here is a Pelican Tech Article to take you thru the process. http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/914_wheel_refinish/914_wheel_painting.htm

Save yourself some $$$$ and pick up Rustoleum Professional at your local Home Depot. I used aluminum color and the rims came out excellent. The finish is as good as your prep so clean them up and spray away. Rustoleum will take a beating and look excellent. When it stops raining I'll post a pic.

I just got my car back from my Body Guy. He repainted my C2 Turbo wheels and clearcoated them. I handpainted the inlaid Crest on the Centercaps then he painted the centercaps and clearcoated everything. Wow they look brand new. Although my Wallet is $250 lighter (including mounting and balancing) Its a lot better than paying Wheel Enhancement $150 a wheel

The wheels look brand new, He did a great job. It looks factory. They shine more than my car

raf can you post some before or after pics of the wheels? I have one small scuff on one wheel but being a perfectionist it drives me crazy so I might do the same thing. Does it look just like factory alloy or different?

Why do wheel places charges so much to refinish if its just a couple of cans of paint? Is there a way to strip the old? Do you have to remove all the old? Is worths the best way to go?

Ch944,

I tried the rustoleum Pro in the Aluminum. I found it at another Home depot. The color was perfect. I decided to clearcoat it because there was a powdery film on the paint that would come off on my fingers if i lightly rubbed the paint. After clearcoat it went gray. i called rustoleum and they said not to use the clearcoat on the Aluminum Pro. they also agreed about the powdery residue. Said it wont hold up. Now I have to sand it to recoat. They recommended the metallic line. i used it the first time and it was too bright and chrome like. Unfortunately Friday I have to bust apart our bathroom, which will keep me busy all of April. Did you have the powdery residue. i just may get the paint from griots with the clearcoat.
