Oil and filter is a good start, run some fuel injector cleaner thru the system, check your plugs and plugwires and replace them if needed, check the air cleaner, top off all the fluids, check the brake pads, and fill the tires with air. Make sure the spare and jack are happening, and AAA Plus is a very good thing.

Oh... and find some back roads on the way... not all interstates!!

Duh.... i shoulda seen that... i would run some fuel injector cleaner thru it, you might have filled up with some bad gas that left some deposits, also when was the last time your fuel filter was replaced? It could be the culprit too. Along with the air filter.

The fuel filter is a canister type in the fuel line and is back by the gas tank, u have to depressurize the system (pull the fuel pump fuse and start the car till it starves from lack of gas) before you attempt to replace it. Flare wrenches are good for this too, to avoid stripping anything.

Which belt? Squeeling could be a bad power steering pump on that belt, A/C compressor on it's belt (or just the A/C clutch) or if your talking about the timing belt, then rollers or waterpump there. When my waterpump was going, it released steam under the timing belt cover, which made it's way out through the distributor. That caused me to have low RPM sputtering around town, the impeller failed shortly after and the car overheated and was shut down before it shut itself down. I limped it home without any reciprocal damage. If this is what's happening to you, you should hear some kinda clattering noise coming from under the timing cover. The biggest danger would be seizing the waterpump completely and tossing the timing belt while the engine is running, causing bent valves.

I would look to find what is squeeling, you might have something locking up and adding alot of resistance which could cause your problem.

actually....I just saw you waste bandwidth in the Power steering post.... as I recall Britwrench pointing out.....

but if you have legitimate concerns..... everyone is here to help.

but maybe I overreacted.... just tired from working on the car.

The only suggestion I have is take one suggestion....do it....and post the results.... and then the next ....etc. ...etc... that way you can learn step by step......
