am i going to far?
I am going to paint my car as I have said in the past, not as a show car but as a good looking DD. So far I fixed some small dents ETC. But to day I decided to pull my quarter windows and then I pulled all the rubber molding's. I had already removed the rear hatch, bumpers, lights, all trim. I guess this is kinda a stupid post cause you go as far as you want right?? I had seen some hack jobs where they just tapped every thing and painted but to me it looked bad and I didn't want that.

Not too far, I would go further. Definitely remove the roof panel and the panel between the lights if it's a late car and don't forget the rubber and glass from the doors. I even removed the two roof trims on either side, they have a rubber seal and if the rubber is painted it eventually flakes off and looks bad. There are also clips under there that rust, good time to replace them (cheap).

Front valence
Bumper Headlight covers Hood Crest Mirrors Rear quarter windows Hatch Bumper side indicators At the same time it might be a good idea to get new fog light lenses (they make repro lenses only) as well as polishing all of the plastic lights with plastic polish to make them nice and clear. |

I have also removed all this stuff rite now all I have is a shell, nothing can be removed but the doors and I am leaving them on, oh and the windshield is still in but it needs to be replaced so I may even pull it out before paint. I may take a pic. just to post here. Will have to wait till sunday though.
