Help: How to access front right indicator connector

Hi try to fix my front right indicator (944 S2) as it was all rusted up and managed to disconnect the indicator from the wiring loom behind the bumper. Now I can't get to the loom to connect it back. How do I get to the loom. From under the bonnet there seems to be no access. Can I get to the loom without removing the bumper?

Come on, somebody here must have replace a front indicator unit on their car. A new unit comes with a wiring loom that connects to the main loom behind the bumper. My best thought at the moment is to cut the whole behind the unit in the bumper larger so that I can put in some tool in to grub the connector in the bumper and attache it to the unit back on.

I am not familiar with the 951/S2 front end, but I think there's a lower section of the airdam you can remove. Sort of acts as a belly pan. But since I am not familiar with it, I don't really know.

If you cant remove that, I know you can take off the black plastic belly pan (underneathe the sway bar) and you should be able to reach through and get to it from there.

Try posting in the 944-Turbo specific forum, they may be more familiar with the 951/S2 front end your car has.

yep. the 'batwing'. you may not have to remove it. you will, however, have to put the front end up on jack stands.

Well don't know about that ,but if you take a close look at it I'll say the "batwing" will have to come out otherwise he's gone to have a heck of a time to get to those connections.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1326079777.jpg;)

you are absolutely correct.

from what I remember on my buddy's 951, should be similar to the S.. The lower "batwing" blocks clear access to the turn lamps and harness on the bumper and the front steering has to be turned a bunch at that to get at the side marker lamp/harness near the fender.. Get the car up in the air on jacks/stands, then remove the batwing and have at it ;) might be a bit of a contortionist act if you have the power steering cooler/951 oil cooler lines there but it looks like a clear shot at both the bumper lamps/harness once the belly pan/lower aero dynamic plastics are removed from the bumper skin.

Sorry if this seems like a thread hijack.. To confirm what others have said.. It wasn't thinkable to get at the fogs/turns harnes of my friends 951 lamps, without removing the lower plastics..

Kudo's on the 968 9944.

I can only imagine that the little red box is some sort of HID lamp driver or data loger..

The castor blocks on the s2 photo you showed looks to be from racers edge... Looks like a nice setup. Drool

944 indicator problem

You can get to the back of the indicator/loom via the wheelarch panel. Repair loom with new connectors. If that fails, connect new cabling to side indicator.

Thank all for your ideas. This one here may well be worth persuing and I shall see how to remove the wheelarch panel. Cannot recal a panel there but will look to remove the wheel and see. I have removed the "batwing" several times and must say never seen the loom. From what I gather the loom looks behind the oil cooler so I will have to put my hands around there and try to feel for the loom connector. The connectors are OK so is just a matter to connect them which can be done blindly if I can grap them somehow.
