Unhappy 87 944s alarm malfunction

Please help!!!! My alarm will not shut off. Is there a way to reset or disconnect the factory alarm? It will not turn off no matter how many times I turn the key. I have had the car for two days now, and I can't drive it. Please help!!!

is it the standard porsche alarm activated by putting the iginiton key in the door ?

If so try this,

put key in door and un arm alarm, then without opening door re-arm the alarm, wait about 30sec's then unarm the car and open the door...

should be ok

if you can't turn off the alarm when it goes off,

try same thing,

close door, open (unarm) keep dorr closed (re-arm -lock) then unarm open lock and door

oh yeah if that doesnt work, the brain could need a reset, can remember whioch fuse re-sets but i'd pull of the positive lead off the batery leave for 30-seconds then re-connect and see how you go

The alarm control unit is in the same area as the DME, behind the passenger's foot board.

Either the switch is not working, ( I take it you have the seperate switch on the body) or the alarm unit has shorted out.

Is this the factory alarm?

The alarm conrol unit can be by-passed easily if you need to start and run the car.

Adrian is refering to the later alarms which are activated by the door locks and have the LED in the door push buttons.

Exclamation

smithj,

You said you tried to unlock the door (drivers side right?) Have you tried the passenger side? I ask this because in my car (89 944) the power lock system is not working properly, therefore I can only activate/deactivate the alarm by locking/unlocking the pass door...

89 has different alarm system, you probably have a microswitch problem at the key lock
