Boostaholic

My Name is Matt and I am a Boostaholic..

It started ok I just got an ok Turbo nice to thrash around in.. then I did the upgrade to the Green Monster.. with the boost controller and.. the suspension Koni Yellows all around with 300 lbs springs and a 28 Torsion bar... I've got an MSD system sitting in my garage ready to go in.. I just added a SFR short shift with a momo knob that matches my Momo wheel.. So I'm getting on on ramps faster.. the needle has seen the right side of 100 more times than I would care to comment about. I've found myself pipe hunting rice on my off hours.. ( look for the rice car with the biggest tale pipe and provoke him to try ya out ) .. My wife won't let me ride in with my friends anymore... Do I have a problem...

Matt

it's that damm 60-100 3rd gear rush that gets me every time

Hi Matt.

That you have admitted you have a boosting problem is your first step.

Now you need a sponsor. This person will help you control your urges to boost.

I can be your sponsor.

Just tryin' to help,
-Zoltan.

yes maybe i can help......the common cure for this boost problem would be MORE boost...boost droppin out.....you need bigger turbos...faster faster.....not fast enough..you need bigger turbos....boost controller saying 14 you need 18.....if symptoms persist...drive a NA 944..and then go back to the 951..repeat if necessary...-chris

Wow, you're really messed up man. It's best if you stay away from the turbo for a while. I'll tell ya what, since I'm in a generous mood....I'll let ya have my 944 while I'll take that dangerous 951 off your hands. I'm telling ya, it's for your own good....

Admitting you have a problem is the first step back to sobriety. The next 11 steps should lead you right back to an NA. Enjoy the high Matt.

I'm afraid Matt is not the only one suffering from this problem. I'm now on my 3rd 951 in the last year and a half. Fortunalty I don't have enough money to get carried away with the aftermarket tweaking anymore - hence the lo-cash alternative. But that doesn't mean that I can't get a set of chips and boost controller to start...

Matt-

Tell me how your suspension setup feels at the limit. I'm also curious about the SFR shortshifter, how do you like that?

The suspension at the limt seems to stick. little to no body roll. Very Predictable,I'v got 17x8.5 in the front and 17 9.5 in the back and I've got to have the front end aligned and the tires rebalanced. took of the Weltmisters sway bars ( damm they were major weight ) and put on the stock 951's I may up grade to the S Front Bar as I think it's a little stiffer. I'm very happy and wonder why people are putting higher spring rates into street cars.. I don't mind the harsh ride.. but to bolt it down any farther I think would be a mistake.

As for the SFR shifter.. I'm up in the air I've only had it on for a night and I can tell you that Dave Harrington's is better made and less money. The SFR feels tight but it's really really low.. Look at the interior pics of John Andersons car. I used a Momo Speare shifter and it' almost like reaching down into the torque tube. I'll give you better review after this weekend I'm running up to Montery in it.. I'm going to raise the shifter about 1/2 inch see if that helps..

And though short nice meeting you at the Pizza run hope we can all get togher sometime soon.. anyone up for the Vintage Races at Laguna Secca in Aug ?

Matt

Do you find yourself needing a little nip of boost first thing in the morning to get rid of the shakes?

It's a good thing i haven't driven a 951 cause I think that I'd be disapointed in driving my 944 every day =P
