******** parts?

Just curious if anyone has bought any parts from ******** and if so are they any good or even worth giving a try. Ive used them for some body panels on a Landrover and on a Ford, but nothing on my 944.

I've used them for a bunch of different parts (not all for the Porsche, but a lot for my E30 BMW)...great place to deal with, only problem I ever had was sorted out in a timely manner. I got a TPS for the 944 for $35 and it was a Bosch unit!!!...I ordered a slave cylinder for my E30 for $10 and it was a Sachs brand cylinder!!! Shipping has always been fast.

I have used ******** for several years now, and have had very few problems. Those few problems (2) were quickly taken care of in a professional manner. My latest purchase (12/15/11) was a Clutch Slave Cylinder for $38.00 on sale, and it was OEM (I think it was OEM as it was an FTE unit).

I have found though that if the price is way down low, I mean way low, the part is probably very cheaply made, but is returnable - been there done that. This is not always the fault of ******** as they deal with 100,000's of part numbers, but probably the item was made in China by a one armed Panda Bear.

BTW: they occasionally list things on fleeBay.

Have pfun -

On most parts you can choose among several brands for the same item. Usually, one of the choices is the OE manufacturer.

I've used them for American made cars, without a problem. I was going to onder a tie rod assembly from them for the 944, but gave up. After several emails back and forth, the rep. assured me he talked to the manufacturer about what was the right assembly for a manual steering car. I called the manufacturer myself, and he told me they didn't make a manual assembly. The experience kind of soured me on rock auto. A lot of their great deals are killed with the shipping cost to PA, too Just my 2 cents, but I'd steer clear of them for German cars, unless your sure of exactly what you need. Pelican and Ion seem to be much more knowledgeable, and that is worth the extra cost to me.

I just ordered a Cardone rebuilt right front brake caliper from them and it was delivered in less than 5 days. Good price, too. I don't use them that often, but if they have what I need for a competitive price, I'll order from them....usually it's oddball type stuff that's hard to find elsewhere for a reasonable price.
