Ever try Griots garage Silver alloy paint?

Non pelican product.

I just sprayed 2 phone dials last night. The surface is like a fine sandpaper after drying. Anyone get these same results. What did you think of the color compared to stock? I tried a few rustoleum products before and thought they were either too gray or too metalic.

Talking

I did a set of phone dials last summer. I got the sawdust like stuff too. Upset, I called Griot's and they told me to leave it on and spray over it with the clear coat. Apparently, under the clear coat, the facets reflect more and give a better look. Not what I expected, but gives a nice factory finish when done.

Did the clearcoat make it more gray looking. I tried a rustoleum clearcoat because I didn't have the griots one yet. It made it look gray. If the griots is going to do the same, I may not use it. What do you think.

If the color looks more grey then the original finish, the paint may not be mixed enough. They recommend that you shake the can any time that you are not painting, and stop every ten seconds or so to shake while painting. The color that I got looked close to factory. You may want to get the clear coat that Griot's uses, although I think that all of the cans in the kit are probably from Wurth anyway. But you can always call the seller for advice.

Did your wheels color look more grey after you put the clear on? I sprayed one last night, sanded the wheel first, no primer. i like the color and don't want to look more grey after putting on the clear. I just may leave it alone and see how it holds up without the clear.

I don't remember it turning that much more grey with the clear. It did darken a little bit though. I can tell you that the finish won't last very long without the clear coat. One cleaning for brake dust will mar your surface. I would definitely use the clear coat. After it dries for about a week, I would wax over the clear coat. It will make your cleanups easier and will help maintain the finish.
