Talk me out of

Someone talk me out of selling my 1986 1/2 944 NA
I haven't driven it in almost 3 years, it's sitting in my driveway, one tire down.. sunroof assembly apart..
I was having trouble keeping the battery charged, then I had a stroke......
before that I had a new bosche alternator installed, but the non charging battery issue perisisted, so.....
Somebody talk me down.. or come by, look at my car, and make me an offer...
Miss you folks..

Dont sell it, I had a similar issue with my 924S. Now that I have my 911SC and 944NA my 924S just sits, uninsured and unused. I start it up every now and again just to keep it running but I serves little use. Then I remember that it was my first Porsche and I simply cant bring my self to get rid of it. These cars are irreplaceable you will always regret selling it if you do. Do what you can to get it going again, then have fun with it. My more recent outlook on life is that you only get one shot at it, drive a cool car while you are here.

Regards
Dave

Time to cut the string, a car un used is a waist, some one will get a lot of use out of these cars and they "will love it too", just as you got your first Porsche, I just sold a motor cycle I had for 15 year and loved it but it sat for 2 years, and it was not what I wanted for this bike, the new guy loves it like a child and will feel as I do about it.
in the end I want to see it ridden and enjoyed, there is still a lot of life in that bike and your cars...just my 2 cents, BTW Dave I knew that would happen....

Frank, I recently watched an episode of Car Crazy (a weekly show on Speed TV). One of the car crazy guys claimed his car saved his life.

He had a stroke (or cancer treatment, not sure) and found himself deeply depressed after all the rehab. He had a rare classic car he loved and cared for but it was neglected with his health problems. One day he got a call inviting him to present his car at a local car show. That was the motivation he needed to get his mind off of something other than his poor physical state and get back to something he loved. In the interview, he appeared perfectly healthy, with a big smile on his face during the whole interview, happy to be alive and doing something he loved.

So your challenge is this:

Go out to the driveway. Now put that other wheel on the damn car (Geez...). Give it a good wash. Suck out the interior, then give the carpet and vinyl a cleaning. Now grab a beer or two, just sit out in the driveway and contemplate for an hour. If you find yourself with no motivation to do anything else and no project ideas come to mind, then sell your car to someone who will love it. If the opposite occurs, then what happens next will come naturally.

Porsche Crest talk me out of it

I think if you are physically able to do some of the work the car needs, the joy and satisfaction will greatly out weigh the money you will get for it as is. I have made the mistake of selling some of my "love" cars in the past. Luckily I never sold my 944 that I have owned for 27 years. I started to resurrect it 2 years ago. As it is now almost totally finished and upgraded it has been one of the best things I have done for myself in a very long time. It is great therapy. I have some pics in my garage page. Good luck, whatever your choice is.

I had heart problems in 2011 And I was going to sell my 944. But I got better and found myself going out the the garage more and more looking at it. It got to a point that I needed heat if I was going to be out there so much.

I got the stove in and I been really happy working on my red 944 to the point the last time I went to the Dr, for a check up, he seen a big change in me and I lost 40lbs. He asked what have you been doing? Just doing what I enjoy and that's restoring my 944 Porsche that me and my Dad bought before he died.

It has made me feel better in so many ways that I never knew that could have existed. After it's done this summer I'm off the Beach and run around in the ocean, I might slid it on the 101 just for a corner or two before I head home

Frank B!
Haven't seen your name on a thread in a long time.

I say just get that tire swapped and at least poke around the neighborhood in it, see what it feels like. Then decide.

Just FYI - I sold my 944, then I bought a 951 because I couldn't not have one.
Then I sold the 951 because I didn't drive it.
So I had to buy another one a few months later.... This has happened 4 times now.
I doubt I will sell the one I have now - I know I'll just end up back again.
