OT- dealer might have screwed me!

I just bought a 97' Yamaha FZR. They said it was in perfect running condition... "mint condition" were his exact words. When I asked if it needed any type of servicing and they said it did not. I do not have my license so I couldn't test drive it and after the paper work was complete he started it and it roared right up and he followed me to my house. It sat for a few days in my garage because it was raining and won't start up now. Legally must he take it back? We bought it friday and after he dropped it off we did not drive it one foot. We are going to call up tommorrow and see what he says. I did buy it as-is but I would hope he has enough decency to get it running at his expense or take it back. Can he just say tough s*** and leave me hanging? Thanks

Pat

One last thing- when he arrived at my house he told me the speedometer was not working. (after we bought it in "mint condition")

Have you made sure your gas is on? I would venture to say that there is nothing wrong with it...If he rode it to your place and it ran fine then it will not die just sitting there, I take it that the battery is good and it is turning over, check the petcock on the tank and make sure it is on and if it is on put it to reserve. Did you get a owners manual with it? As-is means the condition it is in when you bought it running or not....he could stiff you on that.

Not sure about the legal thing....but it sounds like your fault for not having it checked out. Hopefully he's a nice guy. ALWAYS get a vechile checked out before purchase. And not test driving it even is a bad choice. Wait a day and get yer license from home or whatever. I do hope the best for you. Keep us updated

yeah the gas is on... that's how it was left since friday and I think maybe that flooded the system.(see my post "whooo just got motorcycle" it has details of problem) Do you think leaving it on for the past few days could have done that? And yea we should have done a more thorough check. Thanks guys

Pat
