Replacing 1983 dash with oval dash

Hello guys.
I'm new hear and my name is Jonathan.
I purchased a 1983 2.5 944 lux and decided I did not like the square dash. Watching too much pimp my ride I decided to pimp my car. It was white and now ocean race blue with new wheels. The interior was brown and i ripped it out along with the square dash. I purchase a 1991 3 ltr interior in mint condition along with the wiring lume, to now find out it won't be compatible with my 1983. Does any one have any advice as to how I can get this to work. I'm aware I won't have the a/c as well as the battery is in the boot and the fuse box where the battery used to be. Can anyone help on this issue. I know I'm a prat for not looking at it properly but hey it's a challenge.

Thought it was unlawful in the UK to use the phrase "pimp my car?"

Oval dash project is doable but monumental hassle (HVAC swap, etc.) Others have pulled it off, though, if you are truly determined. Try a search.

Marcquito's on Rennlist did it with success, but it's not a DIY for fainted heart.Google "Early to late dash DIY in a 944 on Rennlist" then click Marcquito's Dash Swap for the link.:D

There is a user on rennlist, I don't know if he comes here too, that did this swap. His user name is Po924S. It is monumental as Rasta said. But it sounds to me like you're determined, so you can start by finding a late 944 HVAC system. Good luck!

The 924 guy didnt have any of the hvac controls at all I believe.

Also I dont think Marquito ever actually finished.

+ 1 my wrong :o,did a search & could not come up with pics of Marcquito's finish project, but he was pretty darn close to finish it off.As for- PO 924S- he did swap a late interior in his 924S but there seem to be no DIY on it.Btw he just sold the car a couple days ago & got himself a Boxster. Here is one pic of his 924S interior swap.:D

Much simpler just to buy an oval dash car

Jgmathersgt3 03-09-2012 05:34 AM

Thanks Guys

Thanks for the responses. Yes it would have been to buy a oval dash but when you buy your first Porsche and you are young you go staraight ahead without looking at what you may want down the line. I bought the car with 60000kms with full service history for £2000. Bargain i thought and then decided to change it from white to a custom colour and custom interior, as too my licking and a hobby. here is a picture of it. More will follow as and when i can. :)http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1331303613.jpg
