83 still not starting DME issue?

Hello all so I've been tinkering with my newly aquired 944, it broke down awhile back just dieing out while crusing on the Highway, I have swapped in a new fuel pump relay, and pump, new FPR I haven't tried the crank and reference sensor as I do have tach bounce, but I took the DME out and opened it to check for broken solder joints and it appear to have water damage, so I plugged it into my 87 924s and the 924 will fire and then stall immediatly, but when I plug the 924s DME into the 83 it just cranks and cranks with no fuel to the rail. Could the DME still be the issue? Thanks in advance for any advice,

You need to put the AFM in from the 87 also diffrent volt signal for the late DME

fuel filter, fuel pump fuse? you've verified that there is no fuel at the rail by removing the plug at the front end of the rail?

timing belt problem? (yeah, i know this won't affect fuel delivery, just putting it out there.)

I have removed the fuel rail cap, and it is bone dry. I have half a tank of gas and replaced the fuel filter aswell the fuel pump fuse is good the element is intact and I do have spark... if I put my 924S DME and AFM in the 944 and it still dosn't start should I look to my Crank and reference sensor? I havent replaced these yet and the connector look cracked and brittle. even though I have tach bounce I am weary of them

Yea, you can test the sensors with the help of Clark's garage, it help me out a lot with my no start on my 83, if the sensors are ad you can use BMW sensors that are 1/2 the price of Porsche sensors. After I would leave the AFM and the DME from the 87 they will make the car run better!!

what would be the application for those bmw sensors? or a part #? going to try the Afm and DME for the 924S before I try the sensors, would bad speed and reference sensors cause a no fuel condition?

The genuine Bosch #0261231006, I used them on my 83 the only difrence is the wire is about 6 inches longer you can't tell when they are on the car! I made sure I bought the Bosch with the metal ends not the plastic and use anti seeze, also cover the hole in the bell housing and soak the sensor bolt with wd40 of what ever you like.

Yes the DME needs to know the speed of the fly wheel to turn on the fuel pump (200 rpm's) :D
