rear rumble noise

quickie

engine in neutral and running
1) does the torque tube turn ???
2) rumbling noise getting worse same condition

engine running and car driving (DOH !)
1) rumbling noise getting worse same condition

OR !!!

engine running and car driving ONLY
1) rumbling noise getting worse same condition


orginal thoughts could be low or incorrect gearbox oil or bearings

ideas

adrian jaye,

does mashing the clutch in have any effect?
If it quitens down then it's something behind the clutch.

Does it get worse around 3000 rpm?
I had this when torque tube went bad.

Since it does the the noise in nuetral, I would say the torque tube.

it's that pipe withy the driveshaft inside, running from clutch to trans.
