Ive been having problems for some time... Could somebody tell me just how much bounce are we talking about in my tach when she cranks? I have a small rapid 1/16 of an inch bounce... Does that sound about right?
Also I have a possible vacuum leak underneath of the right side motor mount. There is a disc like end cap on what I believe is the rear of the balance shaft housing. When I was pressure testing my vacuum lines I squeezed the large intake hose I heard a clicking sound coming from there. So I had a buddy squeeze while I crawled under and I can see this disc popping in and out on one side (not straight). Maybe my problem is this end cap on the shaft housing. Oh BOY! Looks like it's a big job. Does anyone know anything about this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

The 1/16" bounce on the Tach. is correct - just a little quick activity.

The Vacuum leak at the rear of the balance shaft is sort of common - Take a tube of silicone sealer put a copious amount on your finger and rub it around the end cap of the balance shaft, let it cure before starting - this works until you can get in there to repair it correctly.

Have pfun...

FINALLY! I got it running! Only took a year and change! A clogged catalytic converter. It looked like new on the outside! But it was filled up with lava and moon rocks on the inside.
Well anyway... Now I know my car a lot better now! And I still love 'er!
Anybody want to buy a lot of used parts? Hehehe!
Thanks guys!

How did you figure it out?

Hey Rasta

FSR mentioned in his thread that he had done the exhaust test. I asked him what test? He made me think..... I finally got a buddy to come over and put a piece of paper up against the tailpipe to see if any exhaust was coming out..? Nothing was coming out so I decided to crack the exhaust at the joint before the cat... She fired right up! So I took it off and used a pipe to clear out all of the debris. Put it back for now... I have a new cat on the way.. only 134 bucks exact fit. and s/s
I must admit.. I forgot how much fun it is to drive!
BTW... the car started running like **** while I was driving on the highway up a hill in a torrential downpour! The water was like a river 2-3 inches deep pounding and splashing the underside of the car. Originally I thought that water got at the distributer.
But now I think that the ice cold water was pounding the red hot cat which was already probably on its way... and it broke up.
Hey my cat was 26 years old! That's 322 dog yrs.!
