Front Engine Reseal Kit.... Help
Just got the kit from pelican, for my 86 NA, but nothing is labeled.
How would I tell the difference between the cam, and balance sleeve? I have 3 that look the same... shouldn't one be different since they have different part numbers? As for the 4 o-rings (2 thin and 2 thick), the thin ones go on the front balance seal housing, but what about the thick ones? Lastly I am a bit concerned about the lack of ridges on the front main seal... Is this normal, or do I have a defective one? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1332947354.jpg Thank you, |
Call Pelican about it. They can reference your order and their tech guys will sort it out for you. They're good guys.

Here is a picture of mine from Pelican. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1332981941.jpg Press it in with a short piece of 1 1/2" of PVC pipe + washer and use the front crank bolt to gently press it in until it bottoms. Look at your old seal before you remove it to see where it should end up. Do not forget the green "O" ring on the shaft---in the order it was removed. Oil the crankshaft with conventional oil and the inner seal lips. To help it slide in the engine, I spray the outside of the seal and the engine cavity with WD40--some use Curil-T.
