Mismatched sway bar/bushing bracket
Got my new front inner sway bar bushings today for my 23mm sway bar, only to discover that my bushing bracket is this one and that the existing gasket (installed by a Porsche mechanic) is a 25.5mm from the 951-series of bushings. There's a 7mm outer diameter difference between the two such that there's no tension on the bushing with the smaller bushing, and unavoidable sway bar play in the larger bushing.
The most obvious option to me at the moment is replace the old bushings with new 25.5mm 951-343-794-02 bushings. My other immediately obvious option is to use the 23mm bushings and shim them using part of the remaining solid (but old) 25.5mm bushing. Thoughts? Possibly anyone who has run into this before? |
Murphy's law seems to be hitting me hard this week... As soon as I ask, a solution presents itself. Any problems envisioned with the Powerflex Front Sway Bar Bushing Set, 23mm ID (round shaped bushing, 40mm OD) set (particularly as combined with rubber outer bushings)?

So you have the late style bracket, with a 25.5mm bushing around a 23mm swaybar, and your 23mm bushings don't fit at all in the bracket?
If so, why not just swap the bracket to the early style? |
