painted my brake calipers

Just thought I'd share a few pics. I'm pretty happy with the way they came out.

thanks. yup. i used that paint, a high-temp primer and lots of brake cleaner and a wire brush to get all the old grime off.

Has anyone seen these? Thought it might be something different.

Yeah, I saw those. I thought it might look cheesy, being plastic and all. But I never saw them in person, so who am I to judge. But my biggest problem with those is the fact that you have to glue them onto your existing caliper. So how do you check your brake pad wear? And when you do need to change your brake pads, how do you get those things off? They'll probably break when you try to pry them off every time you change the pads.
If someone has them, I'd love to hear how they like them and how they work.

Yeah, well... I want to paint my calipers red, too, on a white 85 Carrera w/ red leather interior. I think it would look good, too, but I'd better do a good enough job that the purist Porche restorer mechanic I turn to for stuff I can't do won't snicker at me behind my back and call me a rookie...

Be honest: how many of you guys who make a living at maintaining or restoring 911's paint your calipers anything but stock finishes?

I planned on red caliper paint, Gawernator, I didn't want to powder coat for fear the heat would ruin the seals. Also, this car sees sunny Sunday duty, is never driven hard (unless my wife is keeping something from me...) so the brakes never really get hot. Advice?

A power coat would last longer, right?

I talked to my restoration guy today and he said that w/ 90K on the original brakes it's probably a good idea to rebuild the calipers. He said he powdercoated his so that's what were going to do, red powder coat, new seals, new soft hoses, pads, rotors, and a brake flush. Followed by new tires and an alignment. Then we're taking a couple of road trips to Santa Barbara and Martha's Vineyard...
