First and foremost, "Welcome to Porsche ownership"!
I love that color, especially since I had one (MY87) that was automatic. I do miss it, but it went to a good home for a good cause. Second, looks like you did your homework and found a wonderful example of the herd. Enjoy the ride, and "good luck" with the upcoming parts upgrades you have planned. These are great cars to be a caretaker and pass on later. All the best. ![]()

Thank you all for the welcome and compliments! I spent over a year doing pretty serious homework, primarily for a 911SC. I still love 911’s but for the money I think the 944 was the wiser choice for me right now.
The car was originally Canadian so it’s all in K/M which has been interesting to get used to. According to the car fax it was actually on Prince Edward Island. I bought it in OH though. Clearly never been driven in salt because the chassis and body are extremely clean! Much cleaner than any of the 911’s I looked at. About 105k miles on the car and 51k on the engine. Had an $12k service in late 2021 where the engine was replaced, new timing belts, clutch, lots of new seals, etc. I’ll try to post some photos of what I’ve done over the past couple months. It’s been hard to do much since I couldn’t drive it until the past few weeks now that the salt is finally off the Michigan roads. I had been searching for a radio that would’ve come in the car to replace the after market JVC and really wanted a Blaupunkt SQR 23. I finally found a working radio in excellent condition. Sadly it was damaged in shipping! Good news is that the seller just told me today he found the parts that I need to fix it so hopefully will get it in the car after all! ![]() ![]()

On the color I agree…It’s interesting because I always had wanted a Guards Red 944, but when I saw this car I liked it on paper so much I figured I’d give it a try even though I’ve never been a big silver fan, and see if the color grew on me. It has! What a beautiful color the Zermatt silver is. It has so many different shades in different lighting conditions and they are all beautiful. Plus I think the color hides flaws which is a very nice feature on a 40 year old car.

If you want period correct Blaupunkt makes a SQR46 with Bluetooth that looks like their old tape deck from the early 90’s.
