Nothing, just use good gas like Chevron Techron or Texaco and send your injectors in to Witchunter for a deep clean every few years.

If you suspect that you have an injector issue, buy a cheap noid light to verify the impulses are getting to the injectors. 9FF hits the nail on the head: Premium gas, Make sure your filter and fuel strainer are taken care of and Witchunter for rebuilds. It cost $100 round trip to rebuild your injectors and only a week down time.

My 84 944 sat for about 7 years before I bought it. It was ran monthly so it was sorta okay, but you could tell it wasn't 100%. I ran a bottle of techron and my gas milage increased noticably and the engine was smoother and ran better.

YMMV

Most fuel injetor cleaners and fuel injector service at shops will take more out of your pocket instead of removing varnish on the injectors.

If you do not want to send them to WitchHunter Performance - Injector Cleaning & Flow Testing Services for testing, go to WalMart and get a can of SeaFoam. Follow directions.

Sea Foam | How to Use Sea Foam Motor Treatment

If you feel no improvement, see Witchhunter.

Other uses as well for engines that sat 7 years. Gummy lifters (cam followers) +++.

I sent mine to witch-hunter when I pulled my engine. They did a good job and put new seals on the injectors. I use LiquiMoly/LubroMoly products on my Audi, such as the Jectron and Ventil cleaners. Both are very good products. LiquiMoly is the equivalent of Mobil 1 in Germany and they have a very good reputation.

I believe Napa and Pelican carry it. If not there is a BMW place in NH that can ship it down to you. I've used Techron before and I have had no issues with it. You are supposed to change the oil after you run the stuff in your tank.

+1 on Witchunter I used them on my first 944 and it was a great improvement since the car had been sitting for 2 years before I got it. I may have an extra set of injectors for you if you don't want your car to be down for that long.

The problem with fuel systems cleaners you add to the gas is they loosen crud in the tank, filter and lines and deposit them further downstream like in the injector micro screens. Then you will really need to see witchhunter to get these clean. Also need to see witchhunter to replace the injector spray nozzles.
