still no alternator charge.
This wiring stuff is crazy frustrating. A while back i asked for thoughts on why my alternator would not be charging. i gathered the answers and started in.
I purchased new ignition and found pin 15 in the wiring. (We thought that maybe the small wire from the alternator had gone bad.) I only have two wires coming off the alternator ground and hot. The hot does switch to large and small wires at a connector.. so was thinking the small wire here was the wire going up into dash and connecting to the alternator lamp. however half way up the run it makes a u turn back into engine bay. The larger wire goes into dash to relay box. It's an '82 924... Can i skip the alternator lamp mess of wires under the dash? I was going to put jumper wire in - but attached to what? i'm left wondering how does the alternator actually send a charge back to the battery? thanks in advance for any ideas. |

It goes via the starter.
The crimp broke on mine and we had intermittent contact, then had to take the starter off which finished the job. Took ages to find! That would be where i'd start. Whip the starter off, and check that there are two big thick wires. |
