Working Conditions

Well after three months of restoration my body work and new paint job are complete, I had this work done by a shop that has built several concours winning Porsche's, sorry no pictures, I am a terrible photographer. My question is this, I need to change the oil pan gasket and I can not risk scratching any of the new paint. Its black and scratches easy. So I need to mask off the entire front of the car somehow. How should I do it?

mask the entire front just for the oil pan gasket? the pan is pretty low in the engine so you should not be getting the paint dirty. but if you want a good and cheap way to cover a large part of a car... get some sheets of vinyl or polyethylene. you can find huge rolls of them at a "home and garden" center. people often use them to mask off windows or doors when painting. they won't scratch anything and they're pretty resilient.

good luck!

Thats a good idea! I know its low on the engine, but I will be working from above to get the heat shield out to remove the crossover pipe.
