944 S engine into 944

Is the 16v S engine swap as extensive as the ever dreaded turbo swap, or is it pretty much as easy as if you were swapping an 8v engine?

I forgot to add that my 2.5L 87 engine blew up (probably due to connecting rod failure, but not sure till it gets taken apart) and I recently got enough money to buy a motor, so if it's not a huge task and if i don't have to modify the engine bay or do something like that then might as well go with the 16v for the extra HP right?

This not a simple swap. While the engine itself is very doable there are a lot of little differences . The exhaust , Brain, and airbox, just to name a few.You would be better advised just to replace your original engine with like kind. The hp of the s is not a whole lot more .

Thumbs up

i say go for it! live it up, go for S2 engine or better yet 968. In my opinion you'll regret not getting the more hp cuz as all of us NA owners know we are driving a cool looking, well built ford escort.....so you'll have to put some of the stuff somewhere else...o well....you'll have one bad ass 944 with an s2 engine or a 968 cuz it only weighs like what?2700..and you can document the whole thing and have pics and info for the rest of us.

just my opinion, good luck, let us know what you decide!
