Can I Use This Thermo Switch???

I ordered a thermo switch for my '87 924s and what came was a three tabbed/pronged (?) switch rather than the two tabbed/pronged model I expected.

To return it would be a considerable hassle as it involves sending it from Canada to the US. So, my question is: can I use it?

That thermo switch is for late 944/S/S2/951/968 not 100% sure but I think you will need the 2 pronges same as the early 944 on your 924S.Try to get one from those guy Auto Parts, Auto Part - Buy Auto Parts Online since they are here in Canada.Once on site look under (lightning, body & electrical) parts # 36520.GLhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo.../coffeecup.gif

The two prong and three prong aren't interchangable.

Plus you need to pair the thermofan switch to your thermostat - so they're in the same temperature range. I forget what the formula is.

If you have the wrong thermofan switch and an 80C (stock) thermostat, the fan may never shut off.

Maybe John AZ or someone will chime in with the correct pairing information?

Low temp thermostat 71deg matches 75deg fan switch.
OEM temp thermostat 80deg matches 85deg fan switch.
High temp thermostat 87deg matches 92deg fan switch.

Hey Curtisr thought you may be interested in this. You are close to Kingston right?

I went last year it was fun. If the forecast is good I will go again this year.

2012 Kingston, Ontario 944 meet - Rennlist Discussion Forums

Yes, we're 10 minutes north of Kingston. I indicated a desire to join in; however, not having my 924 up and running I asked if I could make an appearance in the other Porsche I have. As well, I left a query as to whether it's for petrol-heads or couples, or what...

Thanks, I will save this for future reference.

Wahler thermal fan switches have numbers.
823.959.481 is 75/70*
823.959.481 D is 82/77*
823.959.481 F is 92/87* and
823.959.481 E is 65/60*. Honestly there isn't much of a use for the 65/60* as the fans run a long time. Just my .02 cents.
