Hot 944 won't start!
I have an 83 944 that's been mine since April when I bought. The car looks great and runs just as well.
It seems that there is an issue with the starting system. If I take the car out and the engine gets hot, the car will not start. Once it sits for a while and cools down, it starts. I've replaced the starter ($280, yikes!) and the DME Relay (at least I think) but I am still having the problem. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Troubleshooting - Engine
Clarks is a great place to start your search whenever you find something wrong with your 944 |

Replace you reference and speed sensors. Get the BMW ones, they are 1/2 the price and are the same.GL

I know I'm reviving an old thread, but has anyone found a solution? I haven't tried revving it or holding it at a high idle to see if that helps (like the link suggests), but this is a new problem with mine. Even if that "solution" works, it kind of seems like a band aid, since something has to be causing the problem. When it's hot and won't start, I spray a little starting fluid in the air filter box and it starts right up. Will the reference and speed sensors cause this? And if so, what are these BMW sensors you speak of?
