Hood strut mount broken

Trying to replace a worn hood strut last weekend when one of the ball mounts on the body broke free and disappeared. Where can I find a replacement and how does it attach to the body?

I had this happen to mine as well. I found the old ball and welded it back in - not much fun.

Gotta love the reliability of these things....

Thanks. Prop rod it is then. At least the DPO included an aluminum tube the right size with the car.

Go to the link below and in "FIND" type Mounting Ball Studs. They are on catalog page 1187. Hope this helps.

McMaster-Carr

Cheers,
Larry

Ditto on Mcmaster-Carr. They have a ball with a stud and nut that works great.

Would you happen to remember which one it was specifically that works?

My McMaster Carr order history only goes back two years so you will just have to measure the diameter of your existing ball.

IMHO McMaster is hands down the best industrial supplier on the planet.

I measured the diameter of my balls and they are not the same - Plus one hangs slightly lower than the other...

+1 on McMaster-Carr, and I have one located just three miles from me....just about everyone there knows me by name....flywheel bolts, pressure plate bolts, just about every nut, bolt, stud, sealant, electrical connection, etc. you use on these cars is available there....and you can get a box of 25 on most bolts for the price of 8 or 9 bolts elsewhere

Yes if you need something ordinary they have it - plus they have all of the hardware that others do not have, the un-ordinary stuff - but to have a store just down the street from you, well that's to much luck...

The Santa Fe Springs location is just about a 10 minute drive....I love it!!! Need to make a new wiring harness? They have the same plastic sheathing that Porsche uses...Gotta be the best ever hardware and supply ever!!!!
