electrical problem??
not very good with electrics, i'm afraid, so here goes!
every time i switch on my heated rear window, the # 10 fuse blows instantly! this is only a recent problem. i used a high pressure hose, to clean the car recently, and the problem seems to have come along at the same time. looking at the wiring diagram, i see that the heated outside mirrors are on the same circuit. is it possible that i squirted some water in there, and that is causing the short? i dont know how well-protected, the electric elements are, in there. i'm going to take a look see, tomorrow {sat}, but any advice, gratefully received! have a great weekend, bob. |

Disconnect the wiring at the base of the hatch struts and try switching the heated rear window again...if the fuse doesn't blow it's the window. I've yet to see a mirror element causing a short.

ok, well i disconnected the heated rear window, and the damn fuse blew again!!!. i can only think that water did find its way into either the motor, or the heating element, in the wing mirror.
funny, i would have thought that it would have dried out by now. oh well, now i have to remove the glass, then disconnect the wiring, and try the fuse again. jeez, i'd rather be driving my car today, its 72f!! thanks for the reply's guys! |
