which 1 first : R & R thermostat
R & R thermostat : its thermostat ..rubber O-Ring then snap ring.......Or is it O-ring ,Thermostat ,..snap ring ???? Thanks Frank

I know the answer, (now)
First, make sure you have the right thermostat for the WP. 2 versions. One for the 4.5mm pump and one for the 7.5mm pump (ledge to snap ring groove). See Clarks for explanation. Most will have the 4.5mm pump. Use the correct thermostat, then wrap the thin 2.5mm rubber gasket around the thermostat---then the snap ring with the opening set at 12 oclock. No steel shim spacer is needed, although most likely can be used. Steel shim is designed for the 4.5mm thermostat seal. See, not so hard. GL John |
Is there a groove in that O-ring ??? When I pulled the old 1 it was snap ring O-ring then the stat....but I didnt like putting it back that way....

I just replace the thermostat on the '87 last week.
The 2.5mm thermostat seal has a groove. It wraps around the thermostat. Again, for the 4.5mm ledge to snap ring groove pumps. Both the 2.5mm & 4.5mm thermostat seals have a groove---wraps around the thermostat. John |
Ahh..ok it didnt make sence the way I pulled it out...whom ever had the O-ring on top of the stat...glad I checked Thanks FM
