sunroof drain
Hi guys, I need to replace or get to my front right sunroof drain tube. I see that it runs down the A pillar. Can I simply remove the trim and there is access? Please help. Thanks, Mark

Hmm. I don't think there is. I think there are a few holes, but that isn't very helpful. Maybe slightly. I'd actually be curious how the factory attaches the sunroof drains.
B-pillar is the same way. But at least with that you get a little access from the rear wheel well. I know the sunroof drains have been discussed before hopefully someone will chime in. I think there's a way its just very difficult. And you may need smaller hands, go purchase a pair of those at your local pharmacy ![]() Take care! |

The front Drain Tubes are are a little difficult to completely access as they run down beside the dash. First remove the "A" panel, and then the "A" pillar. this will gain you access to 75% of the drain tube.
I have always replaced the front drain tubes when replacing/recovering a dash (One of those while you are in there projects). There is a little wiggle room, and it is possible to service the drain tube with out removing it from behind the dash. If it is just stopped-up I usually run down to the local music store and get an "E"second guitar string (Heaviest string on a guitar) and run through the tube like a Roto-Rooter - works well at un-stopping them. PS: Do not tell on me if your sister is missing a guitar string...

I've tried cleaning I can run a weedeater string 3/4 of the way up or down. I've tied air; it seems like it has came loose or cracked.

the rubber tubing part of the drain actually shrinks over time (like the rear hatch seal) and that causes a disconnect so you end up with water leakage into the passenger footwell.

don't use compressed air, you can blow the joints apart and have major leaks in the drain, snake it with a weedeater line or heavy guitar string

I guess in the mean time you can plug the hole with dab of silicone until you can gain access to replace the complete drain tube. When you are replacing the drain tube, from below run a small round file up thru the drain port to remove the silicone.
Maybe slightly better than water in the cabin floor but the silicone will not last forever. Plus you will need to dry out the channel every chance you get so water is not sitting in there rusting/rotting any thing it can.

As you drive about any standing water should exit via the 3 other drain tubes.
