Replaced Clutch -- Vibration when downshifting?
Just interested in knowing if any of you have either replaced your clutch, or had it replaced, and then immediately encountered significant vibrations when downshifting. I've had the clutch replaced on two different 944s, and in both cases I had no problem with a downshifitng vibration prior to the job being performed. However, also in both cases, a significant vibration (only when downshifting) was evident immediately after have the clutch job. In both situations, the fly wheel was perfectly fine and within specs. Both clutches installed were spring-centered clutches repacing rubber-centered.
Anyone else experience this problem? I can't be the only one with this kind of luck! Mike |

The only time I had weird vibrations after an install occurred when I didn't machine the flywheel.
In my toyota tercel (beautiful rust color, or was that rust???), and then my 924. I left it the way it was in the tercel (got better with time), and then on the 924 I ripped everything out and machined it, and then the vibrations were gone....... At the time I was young and broke and with lots of time on my hands so tearing apart the clutch was cheaper than getting the flywheel machined......... Or you could just avoid down shifting ![]()
