Loud Exhaust law

Anybody here been given a citation for loud exhaust in California?
Did you contest it?
I have an 87 NA with the SFR Quiet Flow exhaust and was just given a warning recently , I think is within the law but would like to hear from other that have had experience with this case

many many moons ago, yes. fought the ticket. lost that one.

it's pretty subjective, but if you got warned, you can bet you're going to get nailed. the problem with infractions is that they are difficult to fight. you have to PROVE that you are below the level, which involves documented testing. you can't just go in and say "other people do it" and expect to get away with it. while you are presumed innocent by the letter of the law, unlike criminal court, traffic court in reality essentially presumes guilt. the judge assumes that the expert witness is correct, and failing contradictory evidence, you will be found guilty. you have to prove the officer was wrong. that can be very difficult.

better off adding a resonator or something to quite it down. it won't hurt performance.

Yes there is but is OK for the stoner's to smoke dope in public, is kind of messed up

but you can't do both at the same time. that's just plain wrong, and you might catch fire.
