life expectancy of rubber clutch 944

I am in the middle of the dreaded clutch job, should i go for the latest clutch kit from sachs (only difference is spring centre plate) or should i fit original rubber type as there seems to be a lot of cheap old stock around .Anyone have an idea of life expectancy of old system. I have a pic of new type plate from sachs website if interested. any input greatly appreciated

rubber clutch in my 944 (new one). old one lasted about 70,000 miles of HARD use. timewise? it was 18 years it lasted.

good luck!

I put a used rubber centered clutch in my NA at 77,000 miles have 210,000 now. I drive this car daily and it still is in good shape. I am easy on it though.

rubber centered clutch

My '83 944 has 125,000 miles on the original clutch, and still counting. I read where the spring-centered clutch transmits more drivetrain noise to the passenger compartment. My mechanic told me he sees no real problems with the rubber-centered clutch. I plan to install a rubber-centered clutch when the original goes. Makes the most economic sense.

one more item:

the rubber-centered clutches of today are better than they were 2 decades ago. when my clutch was replaced, the rubber was fine, it was the clutch surface that was shot. the previous owner (my good friend) drove it daily and in heavy traffic and that's why the material was thin.
