Cruise control 944 type2 only accelerates
Hi,
I recently bought an '86 US Porsche 944 (type2) and found out that the cruise control doesn't engage, but the car does accelerate if you keep pushing the lever towards the dash. Can there be a simple reason why it doesn't engage? Thanks! Kind regards, Johan |
Bad brain... very common problem...

Ok, thanks, tought it could be a bad switch on the brake/clutch pedal.

You could do a few of the possible repairs found on Clarks-Garage.

Mine does that when I hold it down, too, but then disengages when I lift off the switch. If I engage it normally and don't hold it down to accelerate, it works ok but won't hold the speed in the 72 to 80 mph range (the range where I typically drive). It slows down instead to 72. Go figure. something to troubleshoot after I put the belts and one leaky seal back on and reseal the hatch. Busy, busy, busy.

mine has the same issue. it worked before at low speed and now it's failed completely. i sprayed contact cleaner on the controller and the servo connectors but that didn't do anything. i may need to take the servo apart to do some cleaning.
cruise on these cars are basically useless though. it's not like i'd drive this car for long road trips. |
