Clutch problem....oh and I'm new

So I'm new to the forum, but not to Porsche's or Pelican. I've had my S2 cab since 2006 and my dad had owned it since 1999. I'm in New Orleans, anyone else around?

Now the problem. I was in Alabama last weekend and my clutch started acting funny. It started engaging at different places, sometimes really low sometimes at the normal high end, sometimes it was easy to depress, sometimes normal, even got stuck down twice. The clutch was replaced 2 years ago, has a racing kevlar clutch so I know that isn't the problem. I'm really at a loss. Any ideas?

Could it be a cylinder?

Clutch master and or clutch slave. Might want to check out the rubber hose between the two for age and if it looks old replace it as well.

+1 for the master or slave cylinder, I had a similar issue and it got bad fast. At first the clutch hit the floor one day then came back. Then I saw a small bit of fluid under the car one day. Then one day there was a big puddle and the clutch was on the floor. New slave cylinder took about 45 min to put in and all was fixed.

Regards
Dave

Yep, sounds like the slave or master cylinders.

As numerous people pointed out in another recent thread on this subject, if either cylinder is the problem, it usually makes sense to replace both.

both the master and the slave were replaced 2 years ago with the new engine, along with that rubber hose. Where is the fluid reservoir? Does it run off the brake fluid or something??

Both the brake and clutch feed off of the brake fluid reservoir. Should be a blue color hose that goes from brake to clutch master. Sounds like you clutch slave may be the problem since they were both replaced earlier. You can view the clutch slave down above the starter a little bit for leakage.

in the 968, the rubber high pressure hose that runs from the master to the slave is well known for failing. it fails from the inside. it frequently swells before it blows, generally down where the hose meets the hardline. this is pretty easy to see when you have somebody step on the pedal while you look at the area near the coupler.

if the S2 has the same kind of hose, which i would suspect to be true, i would suspect the same issue.

Time is not really a factor in whether or not the cylinders or hoses are good.
They can go at any time.

Make sure if you replace the hose, you use the correct blue hose, it is designed to resist brake fluid. Using "water hose" or "fuel hose" will not work, the brake fluid will degrade the hose from the inside, causing failure of the hose or blockage of the slave or master, or both.

Unfortunately, I have not been able to find it on the Pelican site, but it can be found here

www.***********.com

enter blue brake hose in the search bar
