RE: S2 tech question in Panorama
In the May 2002 issue of Panorama, there's a technical Q&A called: "1991 944 S2 Radiator cooling fan" The fans cycle on and off every 10 seconds. According the Burris, who answered this question, it is working as designed. I disagree.
I am experiencing the same problem with my S2, and the mechanics are baffled by it! It started to happen soon after I had a coolant flush and a lower temp thermo switch put in: perhaps the lower temp switch is the culprit. Did someone here post this Q&A question? I'd love to compare notes! Thanks, -Zoltan. |
Is there any air in the cooling system? I believe the thermo fan switch must be totally immersed to function. If there is any air it may kick the fan off momentarily.
Just a stab, but I know it's not easy to burp all the air out of the system, and the thermo fan swith is at the top of the radiator. |
No air in the system, as far as I can tell. My mechanics are stumped on this one too.
I know PorscheG96 with his 968 is experiencing similar problems, and I have seen numerous posts regarding fan switches recently. But be a spring thing. By the way, with the fans working the way they are, my temp guage never sees anything over the second bar from the bottom. -Zoltan. |
