Question weird starting problem

I have a strange problem with my '83 944. Sometimes when I try to start it it will just turnover, but will not start. Now the real strange thing is that if I hold my foot on the brake, put the car in gear, and bump the ignition switch, the car will then start right up.
Anybody know where I should start looking to solve this problem. The car runs great othewise.

Alan,

That's weird. Only thing I can think of right off is a ground, since it works with brake mashed. Maybe it's grounding through brake light circuit with brake mashed.

Another thing, I would try ign switch. I normally don't think just swapping out parts is a good idea. Same as on wife's 924t & it can cause weird problems. Under $20 & I replaced a couple over the years.
