Engine Compartment Electrical Connector
So I was following the instructions in the technical center about changing out the clutch master and slave cylinder (with parts I'd bought from Pelican, of course)
Pelican Technical Article: Porsche 944 Clutch Master and Slave Cylinder Replacement In step 4 of the procedure, it has you disconnect a 14 pole electrical connector so that you can make some more room to get your hands in there to work on the master cylinder. I managed to botch up pulling the connector apart, the the pins on the lower part of the connector came out of the receptacle. I tried very carefully to put the pins back in the correct spot, but I think I screwed this up. I installed the clutch master cylinder (hardest part was working under the dashboard, had to remove the driver's seat to get myself in there with enough room to work), and took a couple day break. I reconnected the battery. I finished the replacement of the clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder and flexible hose, but now the battery has gone dead (as in completely, no voltage), and I can't start the car, I can't even jump start it. With the jumper cables hooked up to my truck, everything seems to work, all the lights come one, everything operates, the starter turns (seems labored), but the car won't start. I'm thinking that I got a couple of the pins in that connector back in the wrong spot, and that I have essentially shorted out the battery. I tried pulling the backs off the connector with the two halves still connected to verify the color codes on the wires (i.e. red wire with green stripe continues through the connector). Although there are a couple similarly colored wires in the connector. Any one know what all runs through this connector? Any one got any ideas? Could I have shorted out a relay somewhere? |
