speed & reference sensor mounting

The replacement enging that I have obtained has some metal missing from the block around the dowelled mounting hole but the thread is all there. Placing the dowel from my old engine into the the new one leaves the dowel slightly too expand to enter the sensor mounting bracket hole. Should I fit the dowel into the sensor mounting bracket then offer it up to the block? Or should I relieve the bracket hole enough to accomodate the dowel at its current size within the block ?
Then I can use plastic metal on the block to fill the space left by the missing metal

How about a pic, and re-write your paragraph mess so it is a bit easier to understand?

Apologies for my two typing errors caused by extreme haste, but otherwise English comprehension lessons are surely available on other web-sites .

You can't call out a British person for poor English, it's not technically possible.

That said, howabout cutting a slit in the dowel to shrink it down a bit?

Thank you for the suggestion to widen the slit in the dowel.
