Pilot bearing
Removed this using a 16mm dowel sanded down to just under 15mm dia and some plasticine. The dowel compresses the plasticine and out pops the bearing. Now, how do I install the new bearing? Does it need leaving in the freezer for a while before pressing it in? Do I have to grease the bearing with ordinary LM grease before installation?

Freezing the bearing will help, but you gotta do it quick. I lightly lube the bearing race with a light oil, then tap it in place using a socket. make sure the socket is the right size or you can damage the dust seal.

+1 ^^ the pilot bearing is probably the easiest and most satisfying part of a 944 clutch job!
