Does the 944 accept double din radios?

Since i have not seen my 944 in a few days.....at my father's house.....i dont know if it does. Im not sure of the depth. I want to upgrade the 2-knob cassette radio to a new radio with usb, sd and bluetooth and a nice large screen for easy viewing.

soo....does the 944 (85.5) accept double din radio?

A double din head unit will fit as long as it is shallow depth. I have forgotten what the standard depth is for now, but the bottom of the unit may bottom out on center torque shaft tunnel (because of the head unit's installed angle) if the head unit is to deep. If that is the case then you may have to shop around and find an adapter install plate for your new depth (Those extension plates come in 1/4", 1/2", 3/4" and up to 1" depths/extensions), to extend out the face of the unit on install.

Question just for my own edification, will the "guide" track for the single DIN radio have to be modified or cut out to allow the double DIN chasis to slide past? Just curious. Thanks, JAX

IIRC, The double din is twice the size and will require slight modification cut out of the area down into the cubby area under the standard radio. I hope I'm wrong.

Cheers,
Larry
