Cruise control motor, need resistance reading on plug pins
I'm trying to determine if my cruise motor is good before going into the control computer. Using the shop manual motor check procedure in section 27 page 24.
All resistance readings are good except the value between motor plug pins 1-7. I get 4.5 ohms. It should be 20-30 ohms. If someone has a motor convenient to check I would like to know if you get 20-30 ohms? I have measured inside the motor and get the same reading, that should rule out poor solder connections. The attached photo shows the inside of the motor. I have marked the inside solder joints with numbers matching the motor plug and associated wiring. FWIW, I have another motor with bad wiper resistor, I get almost the same reading on pins 1-7, around 5 ohms. I guess I'm trying to determine if the manual is correct. My cruise will respond and increase speed if I move the switch to resume and hold it. It drops out when I release the switch. Clifton ![]() ![]() |

In my WSM it is on page 27-12.
I used the pin numbers on pictures posted by Sysgen. ![]() You show a pin "8" --only 7 on plug? Possibly #3? #1 & #7 reversed (but would not matter) I recently did this test. Pins 1 & 7 should have a 3 to 15 ohm reading. ![]() John

I appreciate your input. Looks as if mine is probably good.
