Differential Carrier Bearing Replacement

I recently killed the R&P in my car and am using the transmission from my parts car. I took the side cover off of it and it appears it needs new carrier bearings. Does anybody have any advice on how to do this? Any special tools? How do I remove the gear carrier?
I think its safe to say those bearings are shot

By the book you need special tools to set it up. IT is in the shop manual. Now that said may have just repalced the bearings and reinstalled the shims that were in place and have reported that it works fine. I asked this same quesion the other day as the trans in my 924s suffered the exact same problem.
