idle problem
I have been fighting the ICV for years now but the latest development is beyond me.
I changed the ICV 3 times ,the one before now was new and faulty from day 1 , now i have a used one. So the car runs very well if i drive normal and idles fine at 950 from cold to hot. Problem is when i step on it even for just one run the idle shoots up anywhere from 1200 to 1500 and stays there till i shut the car off and leave it for a while. Anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this ? |
idle problem
Even though you have changed it, it still sounds like a sticking ISV to me. The next time the idle problem occurs, try tapping on the body of the ISV with a handle end of a screwdriver or something similar while it is running. If your idle returns to normal, you've found your problem. That's what happens with mine, but I haven't worked up tha ambition yet to tackle the job and change it.

AFM
Clean the "door" to make sure it swings freely and does not bind. Or do the major "track" clean and adjustment or buy another used. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-924-944-968-technical-forum/493906-air-flow-meter-fix-refurb.html GL John |
Check the throttle position switch operation.

Good ideas , i will check the AFM and TPS tomorrow.
Does anyone have the measurements of the TPS on hand ? i wonder if the bmw 280 120 302 will work ,it's much cheaper ,that one is 70mm between the mounting ears center. |
Take the TPS apart and clean it , sometimes oil enters the switch and gums up the switch, it is not a complex switch.

I thought only the WOT side could be cleaned .
