Part 2 O2 sensor W/ pictures
 

Hello all,

If you want the background, please see this thread HERE[/B], in which I verify that my O2 sensor port has nothing plugged into it/

Today I trace the wire from the sensor and find it goes up into a connection like this, this is a 3 pin connector.:

Is this some sort of short cut for the O2 sensor wiring? Should it be like this?

I want to replace my O2 sensor but I want a clearer understanding of what is going on...it seems like someone who had it before me may have monkeyed around.

As always your help is appreciated and don't mind explaining as if I am an idiot because...well...you know.

The wiring for your plug is correct. It goes through that harness to the DME control unit.

You are missing the plug that goes to the oxygen sensor, Look under the car to see if there is a sensor in the converter.

I'm attaching two photos, one that shows a sensor with plug. Note it has three pins, two female and one male. The plug in your photo should have two male and on female pins. The other photo shows the two plugs connected together.

I just read your answer in my other thread as well. I appreciate the assistance (as well as everyone else who helped).

I am tracking now, I have traced the O2 sensor wire down to there it is zip tied to something else and then over to the O2 sensor.

I am replacing my O2 sensor this week with an OEM sensor. I know t is cheaper to get a generic and do some splicing but I like stuff bulletproof.

Hopefully this will cure my mileage and acceleration hesitation issues, my car has about 87,000 miles on it and it does not appear as if the O2 sensor has ever been replaced.
