Lately, I've noticed that my passenger rear speaker will just cut out altogether, then come back on. This has progressed to about 50% of the time, and my entire left side speakers cut out now every once and a while(!)
The balance on the reciever is set at "0", so it can't be related to that, but this is really getting annoying. Anyone ever had this happen to them? I'd really like to adress this before I drive to the Montreal F1 race this weekend (a good 12+ trip) |

hey this is not gunna answer the sterio question cuz i dont know what could cause that, maybe bad connections in the speakers?have you taken the speakers out to see?
anyway i went to montreal for the f1 race couple of years ago, it was awesome! guys coem down in their lambourginis and ferraris and whatnot and they all park outside night clubs and stuff. There is pretty much a car show outside every night club or cafe cuz they all just hangout outside and leave their cars parked with the hood up and doors open and whatnot and they let people check them out. Hope you have as much fin as i did. |

Are you using a stock deck and speakers?? It sounds like a connection problem (to the speakers). Check the wiring coming off the deck, and also check the connections to the speakers, if you can. Do all the speakers cut out at the same time?? If so, it could be the deck itself, or an electrical problem. If not, then it's probably just poor connections to the speakers.

I'm starting to have the same problem with mine, only it's just the passenger side rear speaker. I think the problem is in the original equipment consol mounted fader switch.

Bob, how is the fader switch wired?? I can't remember off of the top of my head. If each speaker goes into and comes out of the fader seperately, then it's possible that it would be the fader switch. However, if they go into together, it seems like both speakers would go out at the same time, as the fader controls front to rear only, not left to right.

I haven't got to doing anything about it yet, i'm guessing they have to be wired separate... otherwise you would loose stereo separation in the rear. It did sound really good before this started happening.

I had same problem in a capri, what it was was the a short. Usually speakers cut out if a cable is either shorted (by trapping it in a ddor or squeesing the two cables together) or a loose connection.
try the following 1) with stereo on, open and close the passenger door, does it cut out ?? a) suggests that a cable is trapped somewhere near the door run 2) does it cut out when driving over bumbs or when you've got a passenger in the car. is the cable run near where the passenger is sitting 3) remove the speaker and check if the connections are good or corroded 4) remev the head unit and check the cables are tight, try wiggling and plugging and un plugging the cables 5) if you can put a meter on the cable at the headunit and see if you can measure the spkr ohmage about 8 ohms, try disconnecting the spkr and the ohmage should show infitie or open ciruit 6) temporarily, run a long flylead cable from the headunit to the spkr and try driving see if same thing occurrs ? this will proove or disproove the cabling HTH Adrian
