Steering wheel bearing in ignition Assembly
Does anyone know if the bearing that is in the housing that the ignition lock and ignition switch are held-- is available as a separate part.....and this would be for the early car...or do you have to buy the whole thing
It's where the steering shaft goes thru the ignition holder assembly-if you know please include the part number or reference to parts page Thanks..Jeff

Here's what you want, I believe: Pelican Parts - Product Information: OEM-113415511
At least that's the only part identified as a bearing in the PET.

Okay - this? 321 905 851 D Steering Lock Housing Pelican Parts - Automotive Parts and Accessories - Porsche & BMW Special order.
That was in the PET in the part that has the steering column electrical stuff. I'm not clear if there's a bearing in there but from memory, I think there is.

What you want is a steering shaft sleeve/bushing, perhaps. These show up as a 928 part and they work in 914s too. I don't know if you want to change the whole carrier, and if not, this sleeve will tighten things up for you. I found it's best to install it from behind (you'll see what I mean when you get in there) as that way I could slip it in without having to try to pound it down the shaft. (That's what she said...). If you do want to change the bearing, IIRC it's held in by a snap ring.
Check out part labeled 'B' in this thread: http://porsche928forums.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=150

Jeff,
This one is "new" but missing the key cylinder: I have seen a few used for $15+sh with lock cylinder. John
