Engine Mounts

What are the best engine mounts under 100 dollars for a 1987 944. And where is the best place to buy them.

"best" "under $100" are mutually exclusive

Try to find the mounts from Rein Automotive.. they are the same as the OEM mounts but with the markings ground off. Someone had said a few months ago they are NLA though. If that is the case, just bite the bullet and get the OEM mounts, all the other aftermarket mounts dont last.

My PO replaced mounts, they were $100 each. His dad had a Volvo dealership, said he got better prices on parts that way, not sure if that's true. I still have some minor vibration, fixed mostly with new vacuum lines and re-adjusting the idle

I found some Rein Automotive ones on ebay for $78. Buy these or spend $450 for OEM. Is $450 the best price for OEM mounts.

Buy Meyle from one of the better known online vendors. They should hold you up fine and they're only around $85. Save money for the OEM ones and buy them when these go.

These are the Rein mounts i bought early last year,

Here you can sorta see where the markings on the rubber were lightly ground off..

OEM mount for comparison,

I'm on my third cheap mount on the exhaust side, and have not yet owned the car for a year. First one weakened due to heat. Second broke at the bottom stud. Third is in, but already weak and starting with noticeable vibration. It was installed last month.

Morale of the story; be glad you spent the extra money.

Didn't know Meyle also made these, thanks for the tip! I have had good experiences with the quality of their products for a BMW E46 so I reckon these would hold out great too.

I also ordered a set of these. I currently have the cross member laying on my garage floor and noticed the mounts are toast - thought it best to replace them before I put the car back together.

a new mount of any type is better than an old worn out mount, but i've heard of so many problems with the cheap mounts that i was not looking forward to having to do the job twice.

Got an e-mail from B2C Auto Parts saying the Rein mounts are no lomger available and that they would send me Meyle mounts and give me a $97 discount. I told them to just give me a full refund and I called the local Porsche dealer who had the OEM mounts for $219 each. So I guess the Rein mounts are no longer available.

I guess I should get ready for the same email - I ordered mine from B2C also.
