central locking system failing?
Has any one had a central locking system fail?
and where is the central locking system located? The light goes on, when I hit the switch, but there is no clicking on either side? Where is it hiding, and how would you trouble shoot this thing. |
It does happen, albeit very rarely.
Before I would jump to the central locking system, I would check for a bad fuse/relay, followed by the switch itself for failure, then the microswitches, and then the central locking system. If memory serves, the central locking system is located under the drivers side dash. AFJuvat |
It does seem like it may be the relay..........
Whats odd......It has been acting up, after I wash it!! Religiously. I wash it, I drive it home....and the locks pop open, then they close.........its like they have a mind of their own. Strange....that it would act up after being washed. |
If it happens only when you wash the car I would suspect the plug connector for the microswitch on the door lock. Remove the door panel and follow the thick white wire from the door lock to the connector; you might find it is corroded.
