Transmission issues

So I have the regular 5 speed in my '81 924, and for the most part it works good enough.

- Third gear is giving me trouble. It's hard to get in to third on the way down, and sometimes only reverse finds when going in. Any suggestions as to why these hints happen?

Bad synchros?? I would try changing the oil. After my engine rebuild where my car sat for 9 months, it took a few seconds to get it into any gear because of all the grinding, wouldn't even go into reverse. I put in Redline MT90 and now it works perfectly.

Oh okay MT90 seems like a good product. How many quarts do I need to remove and replace the fluid? Any additional stuff needed?

Yup MT-90 is great stuff. You'll need the 17mm hex (IIRC) tool, napa sells it for like $6. I thought it was like four quarts but the manual says two liters

Since you live outside of California you'll need to order it. I remember when I was looking for it you could only buy it in store if the store was in California...that made things difficult down here in New Orleans.
